Something is Better than Nothing
Nvidia hits $2 trillion, Softbank raising $100 billion for AI chip venture, Odysseus lands on the moon and much more...
Hey everyone,
Welcome to your Sunday Space, where I distil the best ideas, resources and principles on the internet for you to mull over.
If you find something thought-provoking, feel free to share it with a friend.
IDEAS
Something is Better than Nothing
It’s incredibly hard to be consistent.
To do a thing every single day for a long period of time, making incremental improvements.
Whether it’s reading, writing, exercising, coding or public speaking.
Self-discipline aside, we’re not always going to feel motivated to do the thing.
Generally speaking, 10% of the time, we’ll feel great; 10% of the time, we’ll feel awful; and for the remaining 80%, we’ll feel okay.
Making sure that we show up and do something 90% of the time when we aren’t feeling amazing will define us in the long run.
Anything above zero compounds. Doing something is better than nothing.
RESOURCES
What I consumed this week…
…From around the web
This week, it’s all about chips.
It feels like yesterday when Nvidia became a trillion-dollar company.
To be precise, that day was on May 30, 2023. They’re now the quickest company to hit $2 trillion.
The latest surge in its share price comes after smashing earnings that don’t show signs of stopping—all fueled by AI spending from its major customers.
While the sceptics have been comparing Nvidia’s rise to the dotcom era, we have to ask ourselves — is this not the natural influx of demand for the next generation of computer systems? Or is this all truly overblown?
Time will tell, I guess.
All in the wake of Nvidia’s blockbuster earnings.
While this is nowhere near the $7 trillion Sam Altman wants to raise, the venture would propel the visionary founder into the arena with Nvidia.
We can’t be surprised by the influx of competition in the AI chip space.
Jeff Bezos once said, “Your margin is my opportunity,” when talking about how Amazon would undercut the high prices of big box retailers to grow.
This phenomenon is now playing out in AI chips. Nvidia’s margin and control of the demand are Sam Altman’s and Masayoshi Son’s opportunities to take a piece of the pie.
Humans are incredible.
We’ve opened up the heavens for business once again, and thanks to SpaceX and Blue Origin, a cohort of private companies is leading humanity’s next charge into the great beyond.
One of these is Intuitive Machines, a Houston-based end-to-end space exploration company planning on delivering lunar services.
The first of which, through the Odysseus mission, is to analyse the soil at the south pole of the moon, which is believed to contain water and ice.
This is crucial for future lunar bases and could be a launching pad for deeper space exploration.
Truly exciting times ahead.

Wow, that's a lot of tweets tonight! FAQs responses.
• We're faster because we designed our chip & systems
• It's an LPU, Language Processing Unit (not a GPU)
• We use open-source models, but we don't train them

…From YouTube
It’s a different selection of short videos this week, but I felt I had to share them.
There’s nothing more enjoyable than listening to artists who are at the pinnacle of their craft and who are endlessly passionate about what they do.
A must-watch, even if you haven’t seen the film.
TOOLS
The No-Code x AI Bootcamp
If you're a regular here, you’ll know I’ve been through the Bootcamp myself. I'm not big on courses, and I recommend even fewer.
That speaks volumes about this one. It was a game-changer.
I’ve always been 'almost there.’ Full of ideas, yet stuck at the starting line, watching others on Twitter launch their products and succeed.
Then, I joined the Bootcamp. It completely changed my perspective.
I discovered the true power of building with No-Code and launched my MVP in a weekend.
I’m no longer hampered by analysis paralysis and have a roadmap of ideas and products I plan to build.
If you’re feeling stuck like I was, this Bootcamp is the way to break free.
