The Power of One

Plus: Claude's computer use, Boring software businesses, Hard work and more...

Hey everyone,

This is your Sunday Space, where I serve up the best ideas, tools and resources I’ve found each week as we explore the technology shaping the future.

If you find something thought-provoking, forward it to a friend.

IDEAS
The Power of One

Created with Midjourney

h/t to James Clear for this week’s idea:

“Two is twice as good as one, but one is infinitely better than zero.

  • One minute of making sales calls is infinitely better than zero minutes.

  • One minute of meditation is infinitely better than zero minutes.

  • One minute of writing is infinitely better than zero minutes.

Sure, it might be ideal to spend an hour doing these things, but one minute gets you in the game. Now you're learning. Now you're improving. Now results are possible. One doesn't seem like much, but it's something real. At zero, you're still dreaming.”

There’s one to tattoo on your brain.

Anthropic just announced a groundbreaking new capability for its Claude models. Computer Use allows Claude to interact with computers as humans do — viewing screens, moving cursors, clicking buttons, and typing text. This represents a massive shift from AI models being task-specific tools to having general computer skills. The release also includes an upgraded Claude 3.5 Sonnet with significantly improved coding abilities, beating GPT-4o and Gemini 1.5 Pro across most key benchmarks.

Luca’s take: Although Claude’s capability with computer use is still experimental and error-prone, it’s safe to say the AI agent era is in full swing. Alongside innovations like Replit Agents and Lindy, we’ll soon have countless AI agents performing tasks for us. I don’t know about you, but this future excites me—from freeing up time to do more creative work to unlocking brand-new business opportunities.

The world will fundamentally change when agents have 99.99% task success rates. In exchange for that future, I’m willing to put up with Claude doing random searches on my browser for now.
