Hey everyone,

This is your Sunday Space, where I serve up the best ideas, tools and resources I’ve found each week as we explore the technology shaping the future.

IDEAS
The Problem With Reality

Yes, this week’s idea is based on something a purple fictional villain said in that old Marvel movie.

The thing is, he’s right. And I’m not talking about snapping 50% of life out of existence.

Reality is always different from your idea of how it will turn out. Period.

This is because of the inevitable “problems” built into reality.

A simple example is the idea of building an app vs. the reality of actually doing it.

Me in my head: “I’m going to build a budgeting app. I’ll do it quickly over the weekend. It’s guaranteed to go viral if I [insert naive growth hack method]. It’ll be awesome!!!”

Me in reality, after spending 8 minutes on the build: “This is harder than I thought. There’s so much I have to learn and figure out just to build the landing page. Actually, screw this — it’s too hard. Back to writing newsletters.”

Maybe a bit exaggerated, but you get my point.

The problem with reality is the problems themselves.

We will never get away from them. The way to get ahead is to accept that fact.

It all comes down to picking the right problems—the problems we want to solve each day as we chase success.

That’s the ultimate challenge in dealing with the problem of reality.

Google’s CEO recently revealed that AI generates over 25% of the company's code. An internal model codenamed "Goose" (trained on 25 years of Google's engineering expertise) powers this initiative. While AI is increasingly vital in code generation, Google maintains quality control by involving human engineers in reviewing and approving AI-generated code.

Luca’s take: If a company as big as Google uses AI to help them write code and gain efficiency (which has material impacts on their bottom line), you and I have no excuse. These tools are at a point where all that is required to build our ideas is to put our egos aside, get down to work and iterate through the inevitable bugs. It’s as simple as telling Claude your idea, asking it to generate some code to build it, pasting that code into Replit, seeing how it looks in the Webview and starting the cycle again with Claude.

THOUGHTS
Quote I’m Pondering

“Every morning in the savannah, the gazelle wakes up and knows it must outrun the lion or be killed. The lion wakes up and knows it must outrun the gazelle or starve. Whether you're the gazelle or the lion, when you wake up in the morning, you'd better start running.”
