The Fear Paradox
FDA approves CRISPR treatments, AI discovers new materials, How to tell if you're a first time founder and much more...
Hey everyone,
Welcome to your Sunday Space, where I distil the best ideas, resources and principles on the internet for you to mull over.
It’s a quick one from me today as I continue to make headway on the MVP I’m building. All will be revealed soon on this project.
As a teaser for those who struggle with grasping personal finance and investing concepts, my app will be right up your alley.
For now though, let’s get into the Sunday Space.
I always want to improve, so I’d love to hear your feedback. If you have any thoughts, reach out on X or vote in the poll at the bottom of this email.

The Fear Paradox
While I’ve mentioned paradoxes related to business, life is rife with them.
One that I’ve been grappling with recently is the paradox of fear.
As humans, we’ll generally always steer clear of things we fear. This is an innate biological trait. But in the modern world, where fears of lions attacking our tribe don’t exist, our fears are less lethal.
The things we fear are signals among the noise. They are the projects we put off, the workouts we skip, and the difficult conversations we struggle to have.
Instead of shying away from them, we should actively move toward our fears. If we don’t, our fears will become limiters on our progress.
So, let’s identify the one thing we fear today and attack it head-on. That’s how we will get better.

This is a massive breakthrough in the distribution of biotech looking to cure infectious diseases that has been flying under the radar.
With Neuralink gearing up to start surgery on live patients, DeepMind’s ambition to halve drug discovery with its AI innovations and regulatory tailwinds creating momentum, 2024 could be a boon for biotech.
The progress in AI has reached a point where it is now discovering new substances and compounds.
It’s hard not to imagine a world where, pretty soon, we’ll be able to tell the AI supercomputer sitting in our smartphone or Rabbit r1, like Sam Altman says, “to discover new physics” or invent new technology out of thin air.
The exoplanet is almost the same size as Earth, with a star like our Sun.
Besides the exponential temperatures and lava oceans, this might be the closest we’ve gotten to finding a planet this similar in size to ours.
Add it to the long list of “Earth cousins” that are too far away for us to get to… for now.

How to tell if you’re a first time founder - your idea is:
Dating app
Helping local SMBs

Ai for X
Selling to college students
Social commerce
Parties / eventsNot a knock bc it can work but most serial founders won’t touch these

Prompting is more interesting when you approach it as crafting poetry for intelligent machines rather than just listing instructions for a robot.
